The Living Boreal

In My Backyard

Sunrise

The ubiquitous Red Squirrel

Moccasin Flowers in lichen.

Ruffed Grouse of Northern Ontario are so tame.

When he is doing this it is hard to get a photo with his head still. This usually means there is a Mrs. around that he is trying to impress.

This is the drummer stance, as he slowly beats his chest , gradually increasing to a blur of feathers at the end.

This is the Mrs. and she has her eye on me. You can tell by that little crest of feathers rising.

I certainly didn't need any telephoto lens, she was only three feet away.

Sunset on icicles from my back door.
