WOODCHUCK - GROUNDHOG

In most parts of the Canada - U.S. region of North America we call it the Groundhog.

WOODCHUCK
Marmota monax

Body size 16 to 20 inches
Tail  to 7 inches

Family: Sciuridae
The FAMILY goes back to the Miocene

Dark brown, grizzled with sometimes rusty below.
Feet black; Ears small.

Food: Clover, alfalfa and other plants.

Age to five years.
Can climb and swim.
